Facebook has revamped the Business Page layout. Although they announced the update in January, Australia is yet to receive the new format. This blog covers everything you need to know about the updated Facebook Page Experience. Key updates include:

  • A redesigned more intuitive layout and easy navigation between accounts
  • New Q&A format
  • A dedicated News Feed to discover and join conversations
  • Updated page roles permissions to improve page management
  • Actionable insights and goals
  • Safety features to detect spammy content and impersonator accounts

Redesigned intuitive layout and easy navigation between accounts

The overall layout of the page is much cleaner and mimics some Instagram features, like the bio. You can now add a short bio to your Facebook page which is visible just below your cover image.

The other mimicked feature is the Follow button. Facebookers will no longer Like pages, they’ll Follow them, just like they do on Instagram.

It is also much easier to toggle between your personal and business profiles.

New Q&A format

The new Q&A format was developed to encourage rich and interactive conversations between users. Find out how to host a Q&A HERE. Some ideas for your own Q&A sessions on Facebook include:

  • What is your biggest challenge when it comes to …
  • What helps you decide …
  • Where are your favourite places to …
  • What are your GO-TOs for …

A dedicated News Feed to discover and join conversations

Social media presents a unique opportunity to have two-way conversations with your audience. Platforms like Instagram and Facebook encourage users to have meaningful conversations with their community. For this reason, Facebook has made it even easier to build a community around your brand with the updated News Feed.

The new News Feed will:

  • Suggest connections (like on LinkedIn)
  • Allow you to Follow pages directly from a comment and
  • Will curate all comments showing the ones most relevant to the conversation first.

Updated page roles permissions to improve page management

The updates will allow page owners more flexibility with page permissions. That way, you’ll be able to assign specific tasks to certain people.

Actionable insights and goals

Social media, and digital marketing in general, can seem overwhelming. Setting definitive goals helps keep you focused and incentivises you to reach mini-milestones that contribute to your overall success.

This is why the goals update is one of our favourites. The new page experiences allow you to set page goals that you and your team can reach.

Safety features to detect spammy content and impersonator accounts

Social media has become rather ‘spammy’ over the years. Stock photos, generic, thoughtless content and spammy links will be deprioritised.

Make sure your content is thoughtfully planned and well written. More importantly, make sure it includes photos and videos of YOU. This is extremely important when it comes to social media content.
